As the only full-time professional opera company in the tri-state region that stages original productions, Opera North’s productions offer opera and classical music theater. ON recently announced the company debut of “Lucia di Lammermoor,” with Kathleen Kim in the title role. This production will build upon the success of last summer’s “The Elixir of Love” as a masterpiece of the bel canto. Kim has performed at the Metropolitan Opera in HD Broadcasts as Oscar in “A Masked Ball,” Madame Mao in “Nixon in China” and Olympia in “The Tales of Hoffman.”

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific” continues ON’s highly successful productions of American musical theater with full orchestra and classically trained voices. The original cast of “South Pacific” included the great Metropolitan Opera Bass Ezio Pinza, featured in the role of Emil de Becque. ON welcomes back Harold Wilson, who will bring his formidable stage presence to this role.

Mark Adamo’s opera “Little Women” continues the development of ON’s critically-acclaimed Young Artist Performance Series. Featuring English-language operas that attract national talent, this Young Artist production will revisit the literary classic with the emotional perspective that opera provides.
